Rock Of Life

Diamond Island, Bicheno, Tasmania, Australia

Entry for the Hidden Paradise Contest for photography.

I love the colours of this shot and how they turned out - the warm yet brilliant reds and oranges of the sky, and the lush green of the foliage covering the islands ground. I liked how the bushes seem to grow in density around this rock, as if it were a source of life. The texture and form of the rock appealed to me greatly while I was scouring this island, so I made it the focal point of this image. For some reason, the excessive plant-covered ground of Diamond Island reminded me of a scene from a movie, perhaps Jurassic Park, with this ancient stone sitting in the middle.

For me this is quite a little hidden paradise, with no human inhabitants at all, except a colony of a few thousand penguins.

The very warm colours are the result of the orange sunset filter.

Hope you like it, thanks for viewing and any faves!

Good luck to all other participants in this contest :)

Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
Amazing picture. Love the colors, the light and the contrast.
Yea, the rock and the plants make me think of a mother hen with chicklets flocking around here ;]
