Slow Motion II

Pinnacle Rock, Phillip Island, Victoria

The last light of the sun pushes through a break in the clouds on the horizon whilst tumultuous waves are dissolved into a fine mist.

A revisit to the same place I shot 'Slow Motion'
[link]

I really wasn't happy with that first shot - there were next to no clouds, and the perspective was too flat because the water was far too choppy for me to go down, so I decided to revisit Pinnacle Rock.

This time, the results were much better - the water was very calm, enough for me to get down close to the water. Not having to worry about spray and wiping the lens was a bonus too.

This is a blend of exposures. The 30s exposure on the water overexposed the sky pretty badly even with the stacked Grad NDs so I took a seperate, shorter exposure and blended it in to bring back detail in the sky.

Beautifully atmospheric, and the lighting makes it look almost like a fantasy painting. Great work! :)

Beautiful. I like the unexpectedly vibrant colours in the clouds.
