And so they celebrate. Is he really dead? We wouldn't really know for sure. But this picture marks a milestone in the war against terror. and the facial expressions of the citizens raising their flags pretty much explains it all.

Description

Thousands of people celebrate the death of Osama Bin Laden at Times Square, NY.

EDIT: Wow, I think I underestimated how much debate this photo would stir. A big thank you to Mr. ^Timothy-Sim for the DD.

A few notes about this photo.

I intentionally picked this man to photograph for a few reasons. His clothing and badges were aesthetically interesting, and he stood out from the crowd (both visually and vocally). Some of the badges read: '1 more old fart for peace', 'I love my country, it's the Government I'm afraid of', and many others sporting anti-war/pro-peace slogans. Also interesting to note the 'V' (victory/peace) gesture he is making with his fingers.

All the while, the unanimous chanting of "U S A!" and fervent renditions of the national anthem reverberated in Times Square.
It was certainly an odd yet exciting experience being there.

I was in 8th grade when this happened. I still remember going to school and all everyone was talking about was how Bin Laden was dead. In social studies we watched Obama's speech announcing it (And I will say this with pride and without shame, his speech about Bin Laden's death was 100 times better than Trump's speech about when we killed the leader of ISIS). My father was in New York that day in 2001 (And he is still alive), I have never asked him about what happened or what he saw, but that day I felt like a part of him found peace
